Potato or corn starch is a free-flowing powder which is colored in white, although sometimes a yellow tint is allowed. It is prepared from potato tubers or from corn. The product has neither taste nor smell. Potato starch is used in the process of preparation in variety of baked goods and kissels. In addition, it is a thickener for sauces and creams. More starch can be added to minced meat, for better shape.
